EVLİ ÇİFTLERİN ÇOCUĞA ATFETTİKLERİ DEĞERİN ÇOCUK SAYILARI İLE ÖZNEL MUTLULUK VE EVLİLİK DOYUM DÜZEYLERİ ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ

Evlilik insan ve toplum hayatını kapsamlı ve derin bir şekilde etkileyen bir olgudur. Evlilik ilişkisinin olağan ve beklenen neticelerinden bir tanesi çocuk sahibi olmaktır. Çocuk sahibi olmanın ebeveyn üzerinde çocuğun getirdiği faydalar açısından olumlu, çocuğun getirdiği yük ve zorluklar açısından ise olumsuz yansımaları olabilmektedir. Bu yansımalar çocuğa atfedilen değerleri oluşturmaktadır. Bu değerler literatürde olumlu ve olumsuz olmak üzere çocuğun ekonomik, sosyal ve psikolojik değerleri olarak tanımlanmıştır. Çocuğa atfedilen bu değerler evlilik hayatında doğurma nedenlerini ve doğurganlığı belirlemek gibi önemli etkilere sahiptir. Ülkemizde çocuğa atfedilen değerlerle ilgili sınırlı sayıda araştırma yapılmıştır. Çocuğa atfedilen değerler ile evlilik doyumu arasındaki ilişki ve çocuğa atfedilen değer ile öznel mutluluk arasındaki ilişki ise hemen hiç araştırılmamıştır. Bu araştırmada evli çiftlerin çocuğa atfettikleri değerin evlilik doyumuna, öznel mutluluğa ve çocuk sayılarına etkilerini incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Keşfedici nitelikte olan bu araştırmada nicel bir araştırma deseni kullanılmış ve araştırmanın verileri anket yöntemiyle 153 kişiden oluşan bir örneklemden toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın bulguları çocuğun psikolojik değerinin yüksek, ekonomik değerinin ise düşük olduğunu göstermiştir. Çocuğa atfedilen olumlu psikolojik değer ve olumsuz ekonomik değerin evlilik doyumu ile ilişkili olduğu bulunmuştur. Çocuğa atfedilen olumsuz ekonomik değer, olumsuz sosyal ve psikolojik değerler ile öznel mutluluk arasında bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Son olarak, çocuğa atfedilen olumlu sosyal değer ile çocuk sayıları arasında da bir ilişki bulunmuştur.

Marriage is a phenomenon which affects individuals and society profoundly and comprehensively. One of the usual and expected consequences of a marriage is to have children. Having a child can cause positive reflections on the parents in terms of the benefits brought by the child, and negative reflections on the parents in terms of burden and difficulties brought by the child. These reflections form the values attributed to the child. These values are defined in the literature as the economic, social and psychological values of child as positive and negative. These values attributed to child have important effects such as determining the reasons for giving birth and fertility in marital life. On the other hand, a limited amount of studies have been conducted related to values attributed to child in our country. The relationship between the values attributed to children and marital satisfaction, and the relationship between the value attributed to child and subjective happiness have hardly been investigated. In this study, it was aimed to examine the effects of the value attributed to child by married couples on marital satisfaction, subjective happiness and number of children. In this exploratory study, a quantitative research design was used and the data were collected from a sample of 153 people by questionnaire method. The findings showed that the psychological value of child is high and the economic value of child is low. It has been found that positive psychological value and negative economic value attributed to child are associated with marital satisfaction. A relationship was found between negative economic value and negative social and psychological value attributed to child and subjective happiness. Finally, a relationship was found between positive social value attributed to child and the number of children.
