ÇAĞDAŞ SANAT/TASARIMDA FORM

Sanat/tasarım nesnesinin sunduğu bütünlüğün dilini çözümlemeye giriştiğimizde karmaşık bağıntılarla karşılaşırız. Bu karmaşık bağıntıları düzenleyip işleyen görsel dile özgü kurallar sanat/tasarım düşüncesini maddi olana, sanat/tasarım nesnesine dönüştürür. Form, bu bağlamda sanat/tasarım düşüncesinin temel gösterenlerinden biridir. En yalın anlatımıyla sınır çizerek yüzeyi ya da hacmi tanımlı kılarken; düşüncenin, fikrin ya da anlamın inşası söz konusu edildiğinde sanat/tasarıma dair görsel dilin katmanlarında bu genellemeye indirgenemeyecek kadar derinlikli bir olgudur. Bir anlamda; sanatın uzlaşmaya yanaşmayan, tasarımın uzlaşma taraftarı perspektifinin sınırlarını belirleyen boyutlar ve disiplinler arası bir olgudur. Mimariden modaya, sinemadan resme, grafikten animasyona, heykelden endüstriyel tasarıma, seramikten geleneksel sanatlara sanat/tasarımın kapsadığı tüm alanların ortak paydasında anlamın gösterenlerinden biri olarak konumlanır. Form olgusunu merkeze alarak anlamaya çalışan bu araştırma çağdaş sanat/tasarım odağında Form’un derinlikli katmanlarında gezinerek düşüncenin taşıyıcısı ya da göstereni olarak Form’a odaklanır. Çağdaş sanat/tasarım alanında Form bağlamında öne çıkan seçilmiş yapıtlar üzerinden Form’u okumayı önerir. Form'un söylediklerini seslendirerek Form bilincine varmayı dener. Form’un çağdaş sanat/tasarım alanında gözlemlenen baskın vurgusu ve bunu anlamlandırma çabası araştırmanın gündeme taşınmasının temel nedeni olurken sanat/tasarımın geleceğinde de bu vurgunun farklı biçimlerde ve yeni önerilerle varlığını koruyacağı açıktır.

When we attempt to decipher the language of the integrity presented by an art/design object, we encounter complex connections. The rules particular to the visual language that regulate and process these complex connections transform the idea of art/design into something tangible, the object of art/design. In this context, form is one of the fundamental indicators of the art/design idea. While in its plainest expression, it defines the surface or volume by drawing boundaries, when the construction of a thought, idea or meaning comes into question, art/design is a phenomenon so profound that it cannot be stripped down to such a generalization amongst the layers of visual language. In a sense, it is an inter-dimensional and interdisciplinary phenomenon that does not lend itself to reconciliation, and is one that determines the boundaries of reconciliatory perspective of design. It is positioned as one of the indicants of sense in the common ground of all domains covered by art/design, from architecture to fashion, from cinema to painting, from graphics to animation, from sculpture to industrial design, from ceramics to traditional arts. This study, which strives to understand the notion of form by putting it at the center, focuses on Form by wandering about its recondite layers as a carrier or indicant of thought. It recommends reading Form through selected works that come to the fore in the context of Form in the field of Contemporary art/design. This study strives to become conscious of Form by giving voice to what Form has to say. While the dominant emphasis of Form in contemporary art/design and the effort to attach meaning to that is the basis of bringing this study up to the agenda, it is obvious that this emphasis will continue to bear its existence in different manners and through new suggestions in the future of art/design.
