Patient privacy in smart cities by blockchain technology and feature selection with Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO) algorithm and machine learning

Haedar Al-Safi | Jorge Munilla | Cevat Rahebi

A medical center in the smart cities of the future needs data security and confidentiality to treat patients accurately. One mechanism for sending medical data is to send information to other medical centers without preserving confidentiality. This method is not impressive because in treating people, the privacy of medical information is a principle. In the proposed framework, the opinion of experts from other medical centers for the treatment of patients is received and consider the best therapy. The proposed method has two layers. In the first layer, data transmission uses blockchain. In the ...Daha fazlası

The impact of perceived education quality on tourism and hospitality students career choice: The mediating effects of academic self-efficacy

Derya Demirdelen Alrawadieh

Despite the importance of understanding tourism and hospitality (T&H) students' career choices for both high education institutions and industry practitioners, scarce empirical research exists which limits drawing reliable conclusions on the antecedents of T&H students' post graduate behavioral intentions. Drawing on data collected from 267 undergraduate T&H students in Turkey, the results show that perceived education quality is positively associated with T&H students' intention to join the industry but not to pursue a postgraduate degree. The findings also confirm the mediating role of acade ...Daha fazlası

Adapted-RRT: novel hybrid method to solve three-dimensional path planning problem using sampling and metaheuristic-based algorithms

Mohammed Ahmed Shah

Three-dimensional path planning for autonomous robots is a prevalent problem in mobile robotics. This paper presents three novel versions of a hybrid method designed to assist in planning such paths for these robots. In this paper, an improvement on Rapidly exploring Random Tree (RRT) algorithm, namely Adapted-RRT, is presented that uses three well-known metaheuristic algorithms, namely Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), Incremental Grey Wolf Optimization (I-GWO), and Expanded Grey Wolf Optimization (Ex-GWO)). RRT variants, using these algorithms, are named Adapted-RRTGWO, Adapted-RRTI-GWO, and Ada ...Daha fazlası

Is There Any Advantage of Machine Learning to Multivariate Regression Analysis for Predicting Disease-Related Deaths in Patients with Gastric Cancer? Reevaluation of Retrospective Data

Umut Kaya

OBJECTIVE The problem in gastric cancer patients is multifactorial and it is not possible to use one factor alone to predict disease survival. Machine learning (ML) algorithms have become popular in the medical field, recently. We aimed to evaluate the power of ML algorithms for predicting deaths due to gastric cancer. METHODS We reevaluated the retrospective data published. Seven different ML algorithms (logistic regression [LR], artificial neural networks/multilayer perceptron, gradient boosted trees, support vector machine, random forest, naive Bayes, and probabilistic neural network) tried ...Daha fazlası

RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE AS A MEANS OF SHOWCASING WESTERN MODERNIZATION: THE CASE OF TEHRAN (1963-1979)

Paria Valizadeh

Modernization programs in Iran emerged with the 1963 White Revolution and transformed the socio-spatial organization of the capital city of Tehran. This modernization was associated with Westernization and led to uneven urban development, exacerbated class divisions and developed a kind of fetishism of urbanization in the Iranian society of 1970s. Modernizing the society in the image of the west and in particular the United States fascinated the upper classes since they could afford to live in the ways described in the media, and the more their fascination with the westernized way of living de ...Daha fazlası

The sun is no fun without rain: Physical environments affect how we feel about yellow across 55 countries

Banu Manav

Across cultures, people associate colours with emotions. Here, we test the hypothesis that one driver of this cross-modal correspondence is the physical environment we live in. We focus on a prime example - the association of yellow with joy, - which conceivably arises because yellow is reminiscent of life-sustaining sunshine and pleasant weather. If so, this association should be especially strong in countries where sunny weather is a rare occurrence. We analysed yellow-joy associations of 6625 participants from 55 countries to investigate how yellow-joy associations varied geographically, cl ...Daha fazlası

Although the complexity of physically-based models continues to increase, they still need to be calibrated. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in using new satellite technologies and products with high resolution in model evaluations and decision-making. The aim of this study is to investigate the value of different remote sensing products and groundwater level measurements in the temporal calibration of a well-known hydrologic model i.e., Hydrologiska Bryans Vattenbalansavdelning (HBV). This has rarely been done for conceptual models, as satellite data are often used in th ...Daha fazlası
